The California DMV Learners Permit Test. If you want to earn your California learners permit and drivers license, you first have to pass the permit test at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The test has 46 multiple-choice questions, and you need to answer at least 38 questions correctly to pass.
How many questions can you miss on the permit test 2018?
If you are 18 or over, you will take a 36 question test, regardless if you are taking the paper test or computer test, and you will be allowed to miss up to 6 questions. Now, if you’re taking a renewal exam and already have a driver’s license, you’ll take an 18 question test and you can miss up to 3 questions.
