Can you renew your handicap placard online?
The long-term placard is valid up to 8 years to coincide with the expiration of your driver license or identification card. To renew it, you must submit a new application with a medical practitioner’s certification. You can apply online, by mail, or in person for a disability placard or permit.
How long does it take to get a handicap placard in the mail?
Please allow 45-60 days to process your application/certification form. If you are applying for a temporary disability parking placard (good for up to six months depending on your diagnosis), you may visit a Secretary of State facility and be issued a red, temporary disability parking placard.
How do I renew my disabled parking permit in California?
You can get the Application for Disabled Person Placard or Plates (Form REF 195) by going to your local California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Office or printing the document online. There is no fee for a permanent parking placards and license plates, but there is a $6 fee for a temporary parking placards.
Are handicap placards automatically renewed?
Permanent placards are renewed in March and September each year. If you do not receive a renewal application, you should complete Form MV-145A, “Persons with Disability Parking Placard Application.” NOTE: Temporary Persons with Disability Parking Placards may not be renewed.
Can you get a replacement handicap placard?
If your disability placard has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you will need to apply for a replacement.
